BIOGRAPHY

James specializes in criminal law, immigration law and estate document preparation.

James obtained his BA in Politics and Governance from Ryerson University and his JD from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law in 2017. During law school, James participated in the Hockey Arbitration Competition of Canada, a contract law competition with 32 teams from Law Schools across North America. James and his partner won the competition in 2016. Additionally, James was a member of Student Legal Assistance at the University of Calgary law school throughout his three years there and represented clients in legal issues ranging from family matters to criminal trials.

James worked with the Crown Prosecution in Calgary as a student and can offer his clients valuable perspective on legal issues from his experience in roles as both defence and prosecution. Following that, James completed his articles at Calgary Legal Guidance, a non-profit legal organization representing clients from low-income and marginalized backgrounds in criminal, family, employment and tenancies matters. James’ criminal law experience is varied; he has experience working on matters from traffic tickets, to homicides and aggravated assaults.

In his free time, James is a passionate hockey fan, player and coach. He has coached the Girl’s Hockey Calgary Fire Elite Program, the Mount Royal Cougars, the SAIT Trojans, the Calgary Royals, and the Springbank Hockey Association. James continues to coach today and you can often find him at local arenas in a tracksuit with a whistle around his neck.
